After format, my laptop had only one partition. I wanted to install RHEL5 badly to practice Oracle 10g. Vista provides an interesting feature to create a new partition from your Windows primary partition(C). Using Computer Management option in Windows Vista, you can shrink your primary partition to create new partition. You can shrink to some GB/MB to create new partition. Dont label this partition. After that RHEL5 installation will be smooth from boot-up. After RHEL is installed you can check the file system of this newly created partition. Vista wont show anything. If you want to create one partition for backup/recovery purposes in Vista, you shrink your primary partition if it is possible and then label it. This partition will be shown as having NTFS file system.
